Now I'll keep an ear out for my bearings. One annoying noise that comes and goes with my new motor is the belt slipping off the pulley in the back. The repair tech told me that the new motor has a different torque than the old motor and can cause this squeaking sound from the belt. He said nothing to worry about as it's only an annoying sound. Good thing I have a laundry room and can close the door during the squeaking. Thanks again for your helpful and detailed website.

Scott

Scott, thanks for mentioning my www.neptunewaxmotor.com site. I just started up a new neptune site called www.neptunebearing.com where you can purchase the neptune bearings and 12002022 seal kit for about $90.

When your bearings start to go your machine will get louder and louder in the high speed spin cycle where you can't be in the room with it. I've had some folks where they waited so long to correct the bearings that they damaged the motor / motor control board kit, Maytag part 12002039, and had to replace it. I offer this motor conversion kit for $177 on my neptunewaxmotor.com site.

If you need need bearings and call the service guy be sitting down for the quoted repair bill.... It used to be around $650, but now it will be upwards near $1000 since Whirlpool almost doubled the price of the outer tub, which includes the bearings pressed in. Tell the service guy no thanks, goto www.neptunerepair.com and save a bunch of money and get more life out of your Neptune.

Don't replace the outer tub just the bearings. I also have a $380 Neptune bearing tool kit to assist you for rent which has a DVD and online video you can watch for a step-by-step demonstration.

Jeff
