Thank you to Kevin @ No Debt Plan for the ING Orange Account Referral Code email! I’ve been putting this off for weeks and finally made it a priority today to open the Orange account. Kevin motivated me, after reading his post Goal Completed: We’ve Funded 3 Months of Emergency Expenses. This got me fired up about moving my emergency savings account over to ING from Bank of America. I’m currently receiving .74% interest on my savings, compared to the 3.0% at ING. Putting this off has cost me over two hundred dollars and it’s time to take action. The ING Orange account has all of the benefits of my BofA account, and I can always transfer money back to BofA if needed. This one appears to be a no brainer and I’m kicking myself now for not doing it sooner.
Using the example of $10,000 for my emergency savings account:
Bank of America earning .74% interest. I would have made $74 last year.
ING Orange earning 3.0% interest. I would have made $300 last year.
A difference of $226! That’s enough to cover my PG&E bill for one month.
I have a list of fun passive income and alternative income ideas found here.
Update 2/1/09
ING Orange Savings account is currently yielding 2.4% and requires a minimum $250 to receive your $25 sign-up bonus. I’ve added few links that will give you the $25 bonus from ING and I will receive a $10 thank you bonus. The bonus is given to me from ING and not through your account. Thanks for using the links below and feel free to drop me a note if the links are not working. I’ll try to keep them updated.

Send me an email and I’ll send you the link with the $25 referral bonus. Be sure to write ING referral code in the subject line to thepassivedad at gmail dot com Replace “at” with @ and “dot” with . The reason for this confusing code is so spam bots can’t find my blogs email address and send me loads of junk mail

I love ING! Did you know that you can use your referral links to open accounts for your spouse (if she’s not on the original account) and your kids? Your kids will get the $25 and you will get $10.
I also love creating subaccounts at ING for specific savings goals.
Congrats on your new stream of passive income!
Hey Scott, Nice info on ING, if I sign up with you can I get a banner and advertise on my blog? I think I’ve seen the banner some where before. Check that out for me, and I think I will open one with you. I think it would be a good idea for my readers who are moms and really anyone, but I’m thinking of the Free blog Tutorial that I have to help Moms stay at home to work, and/or stay at home Dads. We should all be trying to save some money esp. lately it’s a little scary the way the economy is going. Thanks for also stopping by my place and your words of advice, I truly need them lately. Thanks again, and keep up the great work….love your blog.
@ The Family CEO Thanks for the tip on multiple accounts. I wasn’t sure how that worked. I think I’ll open up two accounts for my children and see if the referral codes work out for me.
@ JJ Glad to see your blog up and running smoothly after the purchase. Keep us posted on your progress.
