Squidoo Update on Passive Income Opportunity

by Scott on August 12, 2008

Well, it’s been almost 3 months since I created my second Squidoo Lens and I’ve received a handful of visitors and no income from it. Do I still have faith that Squidoo can work? Yes. Do I think I will make a lot of money from my first few lenses? No. Why? Well, I’m still a novice at created these lenses and based on the traffic to my first few attempts, I need to refine my skills at keywords and building links. Do I think I can make $400-$500 like some of the Big Squid’s do on Squidoo? Possibly, but I really have to work on finding that niche and building quality lenses.

What I’ve done is create several new lenses based on some of my previous hobbies and interests. I say previous, because I don’t have a lot of time to to spend playing with Lego Clone Wars toys or traveling to Lake Cachuma, as my kids are still very young. I hope to be able to refine the lens building process and find a niche that works to create another passive income opportunity. Like anything else, it appears that building Squidoo lenses are just like any other passive income investment. You better not settle on one, as it might just dry up or fade away.

Here are some of the lenses I have created recently:

Mom Gone For Week
Santa Rentals
Lego Clone Wars
Lake Cachuma
Star Wars Grievous
Authentic Louis Vuitton Handbags

Have you had any success with a Squidoo Lens? I would also like to find out how many lenses you have?

Writingforyourwealth.com has an interview this week with a woman who makes about $500/month from her lenses. I think she has about 80 of them, however. Still, if you’re interested in earning income from Squidoo, it’s a really good resource.

Scott, I was wondering how you balance your time between different income streams. The time you spend on Squidoo is time that’s not available to work on this blog. So how do you know where the best return on investment will be? Ideally, it would be good to know this up front, but maybe you can’t know until you try.

Keep us posted on your status of success from Squidoo. I am spending most of my time right now working on building some traffic for a niche blog. I am also thinking of trying eHow as The Family CEO had recommended. It seems there are so many options out there. It is hard to pick one and stay focused. Good Luck!

@ The Family CEO Thanks for the info on her lenses. She is a giant Squid on Squidoo and has written a lot of good lens for those looking to increase traffic and get started on the right foot.

@ Hunter Balancing my time is really fun. Family with two kids, two dogs, and finding new passive income ideas online is a handful. I love it! and wouldn’t change a thing. I do wish I could stay up all night though as the peace and quiet are priceless.

@ PFI Let me know what you find about ehow. I would imagine that you need unique content and wouldn’t want to duplicate your blog posts.
