Free Money Saving Tips For 2009

by Scott on January 13, 2009

I was excited to see that a regular blog that I read daily was featured on MSN Money’s blog called Smart Spending with a list of free money saving tips. Madison at My Dollar Plan has compiled a wonderful list of resources for saving money in 2009 and beyond.

Here are some of my personal favorites that I’ve signed up for as well:

Earn extra income with coins from the US Mint. I have ordered the 2008 Presidential dollars and will be using the coins for my children, for tips, and small cash purchases. The concept for the direct purchase from the US Mint is to help circulate new coins. I am planning on doing my part and making a little extra change in the process.

Big Crumbs is a shopping website portal that allows you to save money on purchases at over 200+ stores. I have earned over $300 last year and it’s free to join. I enjoy shopping at ebay and save money on all my purchases.

Some of Madison’s tips that I want to review in the coming weeks are Upromise college savings account and opening up another ING orange account.

I’ve done both the coins and Big Crumbs. Maybe I should do the coin thing again but it made me a little nervous that $500 in coins was left on my doorstep.

I signed up for Big Crumbs through your link several months ago so you should be getting some commissions.

I’ve ordered the coins as well, but am at home when they get delivered. You could ask your postal worker to leave them in another location. I guess a note wouldn’t work on the door, since it would say please leave the coins under a plant :)

Big Crumbs has been great for earning cash back on ebay and Go Daddy. Since I use Go Daddy for my web host and for domain names, I’ve managed to save some good money. Thanks for joining BC.
